Birds in Schools
This year, students in Year 5 and 6 will be taking part in the ‘Birds in Schools' Environmental Education Program designed by Birdlife Life Australia and Birds in Backyards with support from the NSW Environmental Trust. Students will have the opportunity to engage in the scientific process through investigating and monitoring the birds and habitat of their school grounds, with the ultimate aim of developing and implementing an action plan related to improving its biodiversity. Students are looking forward to their excursion to the Birdlife Discovery Centre on the 13thof March where they will explore Australian birds and biodiversity and learn valuable bird monitoring skills and methods for surveying bird populations which they will then use at school. This is a valuable program which will see students investigate real-life issues, reflect and problem solve and develop action-oriented responses to sustainability challenges.
